I am not sure what the problem is . I have made actions before but now when I make a new action the save dialog box pops up and I have to click it for the next image to be changed. I want the action to just do the changes and save and close and bring up the next image.

Any idea why the action does not auto save after the changes ?

It's a simple action to rotate ,resize, sharpen.

I presume you are making an action that requires a batch porcedure. When the dialog for the batching comes up make sure the "overide action " box is checked in both the Source and Destination areas.

One possibility is that the action has the dialog marked to open when it comes to that step in the action. Consider this screen shot:

If you see he little box I've circled by one of the steps in your action, then it has been marked as a step to stop at. If you don't want that, click on the little icon to toggle it off.

Cheers,
rfs

I am assuming that this is the first time for these particular files to be run through PS. If this is the case you need to understand that PS needs to be told the compression level for the JPEG to be saved at. If you have not incorporated it into the action somehow then it is going to pause until it gets its answer from you directly. What you need to do is put a "save as" command into the action followed by a "close" command. These two steps will of course be the final lines in the action. Its not important where you save the file that you are using to write the action. I usually just save it to the desktop for easy deletion later. The important part is that this step sets the level of compression for when the file gets saved. You are actually going to override the "save as" step when you run the batch by designating "folder" in the destination box and choosing the appropriate folder and also checking the "override action save as command" box. This is the key to this puzzle. After you have run images through an initial batch such as this then you may do a simple "save and close" to run any subsequent batches on these images.

Hope this makes sense. Its a little confusing the first time you have to do it.

thanks, David

In the actions palette there are two items to the left of each instuction in the action. the first turns the insturction on/off and the second causes it to pause and wait for your input... check and see if you have this "pause" function on for the save instruction of your action.

Oppps... Guess I should read the whole thread before posting... Looks like this has already been suggested. Hope you get it worked out.
