Sigma lens on Canon body... yes or no?

If it helps, I shot these in fading daylight on a Canon 30d using a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG. I chose this lens because I wanted a zoom telephoto with decent reach but since this lens doesn't really support my business needs, I couldn't see spending too much. In the end I paid $200 US at B&H.

I have a Sigma 28-70 f2.8. It was slow focusing, and then during one of Roland's workshops, the auto focus locked up. The lens would only focus in manual mode. Your camera brand lenses will probably work better.
