Hi Guys

I keep reading references about Playboy, FHM and Maxim style photography in relation to glamour.

Can anyone define the technical aspects of each style of shooting such as the type of lighting setups that are used for each one? I appreciate that setups will be different for each shoot, but I assume that there must be a common theme/pattern for it to be called a style.

Any clues?

Pete

I believe it has more to do with "exposure" than lighting.

Playboy = nudity, yet not considered pron
FHM, Maxim = sexy, maybe implied nudity, bikini etc

Hope that helps,
SteveB

On the "other" model website that shall not be named, there's an article titled "How to shoot maxim style: behind the scenes with Mike Brochu". You may find it informative.

Really good Playboy photography ( centerfold quality) is as much about lighting the room as it is the lady.

There is a lot more that goes into a Playboy or Maxum style photo than just
a naked body or implied nudity and bikinis. If it were that easy, anyone
could do it. There are lighting techniques and attention to details when it
comes to the backgrounds and any photo props that might be in the
picture. "Photomart" on this site does very well with his versions on some
of these styles.
