Hi all,

I need some insurance (inland marine?) for all of my equipment but am not sure what companies offer a good rate. I thought some of you who have insurance for your equipment (business, not personal....it will also be for my studio) could provide me some direction as to which companies offer good rates and service. With all of my new equipment, I don't want to take a chance at something happening and not being able to have it replaced.

Thanks for your help.

Good day and Happy Easter!

Mike

I have all my stuff - car, home, life, biz with State Farm.

On all my photographic gear, I paid $3 per $1000 insured. A little over a $100 for this year. Only a $100 Deductible too.

Hi Clint,

I called State Funny Farm and they wouldn't touch me. They told me they don't do inland marine insurance for professional photographers and won't cover my equipment, my studio, or anything. I thought that was weird because they quoted me a price about six months ago but I didn't go with them. Now they said they've changed their policy. Go figure.

Good day!

Mike

Maybe some state regulation or something. I don't know.

Hey Mike,

Im currently insured by State Farm. Ive been with them fo rthe past year now, and they are great for me. Whe I decided to get all my equipment insured it did take while to find the right company.

One of the biggest setbacks is that many insurance companies do not think highly of photographers, and the business. We're concidered, a high liability. One company I spoke with actually told me they DO NOT insure photographers because they have a bad reputation of commiting fraud.

After a long search I found great company that will insure all my equipment, in studio and on location all across Canada. Thats what I need, and my payments and just under $20 a month with a vey low deductable.

I hope that helped!

Regards,

Hi Jayson,

I asked about that but they (State Farm) still wouldn't touch me. I'll have to contact the guys at MPPA and WPPI and see what I can find out. I think my membership there will allow me to get some reasonable rates. I just haven't checked there yet.

Thanks and good day!

...but I'm not sure if they are the cheapest. I had a claim, and they didn't question a thing, paid within 2 weeks.

Also, this policy covers me no matter where I'm at in the world.

Good luck,
