I accidently deleted my entire My Photos folder (a sub-folder of My Documents that I created) and I was able to restore it by copying all of my images from the Backup Hard Drive that I religiously back up all my images to but somehow in all of the gyrations I had to go through PhotoShop has gotten confused (this happens a lot with this piece of crap program and if there was a suitable substitute I would be all over it but since there isn't, I am stuck with PhotoShop) and now whenever I am working on images in PhotoShop it will only display the Filename for my images and not the Thumbnails which it used to.

I can manually switch the view to Thumbnails but I have to do it every time I open or save images and this is a huge pain in my A _ _ and I want Photoshop back the way it used to be. I have looked under Edit - Preferences and I can't see any sort of option that controls this and I have looked in the Windows menus and I don't see any sort of option there either so I am out of options but I am getting very, very tired of PhotoShop and all of its stupidity so if anyone can help it will be most appreciated.

To a reasonable, thinking person this would be a very easy fix but Adobe decided they had to somehow justify the inflated price they charge for this loser program and make this (and a lot of other functions that should be straightforward) something just short of a PHD requirement.

I don't know if it's the same problem I get but sometimes photoshop won't show my thumbnails either. I've found that if I'm in file browser and go to file, then purge entire cache, photoshop will reload all the images and my thumbnails show up again.

I think you might be better off just using a different program for browsing images (and renaming, converting ,...etc.) rather then using PS's browser.

I have tried using the browser feature in PS and found it to be less then adequate.

Now I use ACDSEE for that. And I hear that BreezeBrowser Pro is even better.

You are sort of vague in the description of your problem. Is it the Bridge that can't show the thumbnails, or are you saying that when you do File | Open, that you can't see a thumbnail at the bottom of the dialog, or that you can't choose the thumbnail option of the dialog, or what? If its Bridge, then the cache was probably lost to and you need to rebuild it. I'd use Bridge preferences to set its location (usually better on a 2nd hard drive, and not in My Photos. I use a variety of other file browsers, but often use Bridge and find it quite adequate and it allows a very powerful and fast workflow for RAW conversions (as I've detailed in a tutorial in the digital forum). But for just dealing with one photo at a time, I usually use BreezeBrowser Pro.

Cheers,
rfs
