I was bad and bought myself a PocketWizard kit. I use Alien Bees strobes: it is my plan to connect the reciever to the main light with a miniphone/miniphone patchcord and use the main to fire the background light via slave optic.

Any tips and tricks for using PW with AB or in general?

Marc, the most useful setup (in my opinion) with Alien Bees is to get their Wired remote control (US$99) and to connect your PW receiver to that. That way you don't have to rely on the optical slave mode on any flash units plus you get the advantage of being able to adjust your lights (up to four of them) from one central location. It's really a wonderful combination.

I hope you also have a Sekonic meter with the PW-compatible radio module. That way you'd be able to take flash meter readings without wire, and your camera (with PW transmitter) would also be wireless.

It really is a great combination.

Oh, the AB wired remote uses standard telephone cable wiring and comes with four 25' cables, each in a different color.
