I came across this shot and I love it. I wanted to do a refective type of shot but I was never able to find something good enogh to do what this photographer has done.

So does anyone have an idea what the chairs are sitting on ?

The photo was shot by a very skilled photographer in NY. His name is Howard Schatz

I have no way to contact him..

Mike

I've heard that there is a reflective mylar sheet you can get. I think I saw it while searching the net for backgrounds. I think it's main application is for use in greenhouses.

I thought of that also and tested it . You will get a mirror image of everything above the model. You would need a white ceiling in order to get that look. I think he used some kind of white plexi glass but I am not sure. I have not used that yet as it costs about $75 a sheet.

Sorry, but I doubt that that reflection is from acrylic - it's too mirror-like in intensity. I tend to agree with the reflective Mylar idea - you can tell from the image that he's shooting at an angle relative to the subject, so doing it in a tent is quite possible.

OK, while I honestly do not know for certain, here is what I thought of. Perhaps the reflection is from a large sheet of Mylar with a large sheet of clear Plexiglas placed on top of it to smooth out any wrinkles. White background with a Chimera Component Light bank with 1.5" Diameter Tubing - Silver Interior - 10x20' above the model. Whatever it is, it is a great photo. The model has done an excellent job as well. Hurts me just trying to figure out how she got into that position let alone getting out of it.

maybe the photographer does have a white ceiling? but i'm guessing it's shot in front of a white cyc with the mylar on the floor, perhaps with something clear over the mylar to keep it flat and something white suspended overhead. i have a 12' x 12' white silk that i could easily suspend over a model (with a frame) and it would certainly get the job done.

now, as for the model. sheesh! that girl has some strength and agility!!!!

I spoke to the model and she told me he had mirrors on the floor and shot it from up above. So my guess is mylar was used as glass would have cracked you would think.

my guess is a plug in called flood, take the rippels out and you get a nice reflection of the upper half of the photo, I will try to post one
