Hello,

I'm looking to buy some 107" rolls of seamless white, black, and possibly other colors as well. There are some pretty good deals from Adorama via Amazon ($30 + $15 shipping), but buying over the internet, I can't really tell how white or how black the rolls are going to be. Two cheap brands that keeping popping up are B&D and Savage. Does anyone have any experience with these brands? This is my first experience buying seamless, so I'm not really sure what to look for.

Thanks for any help,
-David

I have used savage and they are good.
If you call their customer service they will send you a sample card
with all their colors so you can judge for yourself

Ritz Camera stores can order the Savage rolls. You will probably have to just pay your local sales tax. If the clerk doesn't have a clue, talk to the manager.

I have been using sagave seamless paper for a while now and am very happy with it. Deffinitely recomend due to it being a strong paper while still being very flexible to bend from stand to floor.. one problem with the black though.. has a kindof not so dark ripple texture to it that can be a pain when any lights are close to it (and in my small space that's a lot of the time). The other colors are great though that I have purchased.
This picture was taken with the light approximately 8 ft from the black sheet illuminating the subject. Bit of photoshop and it's good. But you see the pattern i'm talking about.

I prefer Savage over Superior. The Savage seems to have a slightly smoother finish where the Superior is a little more rough. In a pinch either will do just fine. The inner roll size on the Savage is slightly larger and heavier than the Superior which makes it a little harder to handle by yourself. YMMV.

BTW, if you are a NAPP (Photoshop pro) member, you get free UPS three day shipping from B&H. No tax makes it pretty cheap to get at $35 a roll.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the replies. I went down to my favorite camera store today to see what they had. They sell Superior color paper for $52 and white paper for $42, so I went ahead and bought it there. I like to support my local store any time their prices are close to what I can get on the Internet. I also treated myself to some manfrotto brackets and EXPAN paper holders (they have a chain for reeling the paper up and down). It's probably a little over the top, but it will help keep my paper out of the way, and my "studio" is in a high traffic part of the house, so I don't really want to leave the paper lying around.

That doesn't look right for "seamless" paper. Do you think it's possible you got a defective roll? It's like you can see the mesh fibres that the paper is made out of. I'll have to try that with my black and see what happens. Thanks for sharing the image... definitely something to watch for.

Thanks again for all the input. I've got to get this room painted (lived here 8 years... time to paint) and then I can put everything up. Hopefully I'll have some great images to share from this!
