Got an email notice from Tallyns Camera today. The price of the S3 is coming down to $1299, actually if you can live without the AC adapter and some of the software, they'll sell it to ya for $1199. They'll even pick up the shipping cost.

Is Fuji feeling the heat from low priced competition? Is the S4 around the corner?

Prolly a bit of both... but if you've been aching for an S3, it just might be the time to make your move. But whaddo I know... I use an S2.

The S4 is certainly coming......BTW... A very interesting read for other information as well in this dpreview article.

The price drop has nothing to do with feeling any heat. They need to dump what's left. Portrait photographers will stay true to Fuji and their technology.

It'll be interesting to see where they price the S4 when it's announced. After dropping the prices on previous versions, some folks might decide to hold off on it til they start the down slide...

But there are always a few guys who must be out there on the bleedin' edge...

Me? I'll just wait till that friendly Nigerian banker deposits the four million bucks in my bank account, and then go buy one of everything...

Gee, the smilies don't even work...

No matter what the price is, loyal Fuji lovers will buy it brand new. They will turn their investment around on the first day. That's the difference. Most Fuji loyalist are portrait photographers earning an income daily and some will turn that around in one day so it's peanuts to them and they don't worry about waiting for the price drop.

We should be paying attention to glass now more than anything.

or mamiya or nikon or contax or minolta or leica...... I am just saying Fuji leans more towards the portrait shooter. I didn't say daily basis. I just said they can turn it around in a day to justify it. LOL

The sound of taps echoing over a verdant green plain....

No more Minoltas. R.I.P.

I'll miss the Minolta Mirror, although they haven't published it for a quite a few years, at least I haven't seen one. Great publication...

Ya suppose my XE-7 will be worth a few bucks someday??? Of course, there won't be any film for it, but it's classy lookin'
