I still use an Olympus rig, but full frame 35mm (or perhaps medium format) could be in my future. Sony's A900 is looking tempting, but it will need top glass (like any camera) to make it sing. Switching systems is an expensive exercise.

I did have two Nikon FILM Cameras back in the dark ages...

Just bought my 4th Digital Canon Camera, a 1D MK III and even though the Nikon D3 looks pretty good, there is no way I am going back to Nikon until they get competitive with their Glass prices...

Examples:
(1) 500mm f4 Lens:
Canon price: $5800
Nikon price: $7900

(2) 400mm f2.8 Lens
Canon: $6800
Nikon: $8500

(3) 300mm f2.8 Lens
Canon $4100
Nikon $4500

I would guess that most of us have upgraded more than once since taking this poll. The fact that we can't change it to our current camera makes useless.

We would have to start a new poll to reflect who is using what now. We could start a new poll every January that way we can see trends. Like who is moving to larger formats.

I've shot Nikon my entire career, however I just aquired a 5DII that I am enjoying very much! Bought it for the 20+ pixels, and will see how I like the HD video. The D3x is sinfully expensive!

I have used many different camera's over the years. my first "pro" camera was an Olympus OM1 which I still have. Later I switched to Canon and have been using my 10d and XTI for a number of years.
I have the pleasure of working in a camera store on a parttime basis, so I get to check out all of the new cameras, some before they are available, and even get to use some of them on a trial basis. Because of this I am seriously thinking of changing to SONY. I have used the a300 and the a700, have not gotten my hands on a900 yet, and based on everything, I find that the image quality is excellent on both cameras. I love the stabilization in the body and have gotten 1 full f/stop over my IS Canon lenses. I will continue to shoot Canon for a while because it will take me some time to get what I need for the SONY's but I feel that it is worth the time and money. But i have also found many very good Minolta lenses at garage sales for little money. Of course, now that I am looking I won't find one.

Ok. I know there are alot of Canon people out there and for years they were the best, but the Nikon D3 and D700 have gone above and beyond. I shoot the D700 and I have never held a better camera.

I've been at this a while.. I recently bought a Canon 5D Mark II, which is a digital full frame camera equipped with a video movie mode..

What lenses do you guys like to shoot with?

I use a Mamiya 7ii for my panoramic work, a Mamiya RZ67 Pro II for my fine portrait work and animal photography, and a Canon 20D for my headshots, blended panoramas, and for glamour jobs. I know they would all work for everything but I've optimized my cameras for the specific job they do and I'm very happy with the results. I strongly prefer film over digital but I probably use more digital than film these days.
