I built myself a 4'x8' diffusion panel out of PVC and stretched white, ripstop nylon. I can add additional layers to further diffuse the light if I want to open up my lens a bit. I can also pull a "Jerry Avenaim" and soak the cloth in iced tea like he did for his photo of Halle Berry if I want to add some warmth to skin tones. I'm anxious to build some other trinkets out of PVC for my studio. I like to build on the cheap because I'm so damn poor that I can't even afford to pay attention. The cool thing about it is that I can put two strobes behind the panel and make an 8-foot wall of light and put it close to a subject.
