I do have a regular dial-up modem as well as broadband, but I must have the only computer in the world without built in fax software - I've looked everywhere. When I open Word there is no "print to fax" option, only "print to file". I'm less worried about getting the merge part to work (its SO complicated) than I am avoiding printing out all the faxes, so I might run down to the store tomorrow and see if there is some cheap fax software I can use. Thanks to all for your suggestions, now please send your own faxes to the reps on the list!

did you search for some free stuff
I found this just a fast search don't know if it's 'safe'
it's a download page
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/B...Print2Fax.html

of course most pages ( this one included ) seem to want money for their service

Yes I did. There is nothing under "Accessability" that even remotely looks like "Fax". Under "Communications" there is a Fax tab, but all that does is open a folder of Fax cover sheets. I'm using XP pro.

Thanks for the thought though.

I use Myfax.com; works well and is pretty inexpensive.

oops left off the 'communications' tab in my reply

I have xp home edition
I haven't used it , but I opened a word document and hit PRINT , there was a fax machine image there, I clicked on it and it started a fax wizard for senting one fax (phone number) , then asked if you want to send to more than one person

Sorry I don't have a clue were it is getting it from , just that it is there

maybe just doing a HELP search on your computer will help find it ??

I did on mine - it said to
control panel
....add or remove programs
......add/remove windows components( left side of screen ? )
........add fax

whether it will help you or if you need some setup disks I don't know

It IS in Windows XP Pro but you have to add it. Start/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Add/Remove Windows Components/Fax Services. You will need your XP disc to load the component.
