I am setting up for this years photography season and thinking that a flash card to CD burner is just the item that I need for some of the work I am doing. I have browsed around and found this, potential item. Does anyone have any experience or advice on these, other models? anyone know of one for sale....cheap?...

Thanks

Dave

I bought one of the early ones, not this brand. Go with the DVD burner or only shoot 512 mb cards. The big problem I had was that it was not battery powered so it was a paperweight on location. Also, it did not do a "disk full-continue on another disk" kind of function. It would copy for a long time and then say there was not enough room. Well, the purpose of those things is to quickly transfer so you don't have to edit in the camera. Mostly, I was frustrated with it.

I have one of the 200's. It writes CD-R or CD-RW but not DVD. It works just as they say it does. The disc spanning works fine if you have more images on the card than will fit on the CD-R. If you don't fill the CD-R you can continue on it with the next card.

Comes with the battery, 110V power supply and 12V car cord. Pretty handy to have if you are out in the motor home for a week shooting nature stuff.

It also has a video cable output and remote. If you shoot RAW + JPG you can plug it into a TV and view the JPG's. Kind of nice when sitting around in the evening with nothing else to do.

Dave,

Have you looked at any of the portable hard drive's with media slots built in? I bought a 40GB device from Wolverine Data that works great. It has an internal rechargeable battery and I can copy about 6GB of photo's before I need a recharge so it's great on location.

Here's a storage process that is working for me...

If you have a decent laptop, with a burner, I found this program called Allway Sync (free personal use download or PRO version for $20). Here's the scenario:

- Insert CF into a PCMCIA Adapter, plug into laptop
- Allways Sync detects the card and syncs up to a location on the laptop
- Allways Sync also syncs up to an external 40 GB so I have 2 copies
- When my next card is full, switch cards, format in camera and go

I know this is not as portable as some solutions, but for weddings and other larger events, I usually have power on hand, or an inverter in my car that will run the laptop.

Cheap and quick if you have the laptop already. And I can view and edit on the laptop!

Just another idea to confuse you further.

I have seen IOmega has a 20 gb portable hard drive for about $140. I have not used one, but was wondering if anyone has.

Appreciate the posts and have looked at the many storage devices that are available but for my needs I will require a CD and not just a storage solution. I am looking at the line from apacer, their entry level would do me fine actually, but wondering about others exp. and/or best places to buy new or used?
