I hope I remember the solution to this one. I had the same problem with my Epson 2200. I spent many hours with Epson reps until one remembered "oh you have to do this". Essentially there are two areas where you specify who has control over color selection, one at the very beginning of the process, the second on the "print" area. If you go under the Photoshop Elements (or CS2) menu and select "Color management", then that takes precedence over anything else. I did that when I set up Elements, and the Preview always looked washed out and printed the same. When I unchecked every selection on "Color Management", and instead used "Adobe RGB" and "Perceptual" on the print menu then everything came out right. I hope this works for you. It seems to be a fairly common problem with Epson, so if I forgot the sequence, an Epson rep should be able to help if you prod them.
