I'm happy with both the image quality and build and have not had any problems with either camera (not that a survey of one is much help [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]).
The glass you put on it will make the biggest difference. The D50 Kit lens is just average. Try to get it with the 18-70. As cheap lenses go, it's quite good. I have also heard good things about Nikon's new 18-200 VR. No first hand experience, but people are generally saying it does well considering the range. My brother is planning on buying one soon.

Not that you can tell much from small web sized pictures. Also they are mostly taken with the Nikon 70-300G lens, one of the cheapest and not very good.
