Wondering how you get this information, I noticed that alot of images, when you look at someone's port, it shows the ISO, lense, f-stop etc. When I have the box checked when I upload, nothing shows up. Is this something I'm not saving to the image? Guess it isnt that big of a deal, was just wondering.
Thanks,
Dean

Shooting digital the data is automatically saved in the file. If the picture was analog first (slide, print or negative) it never existed. However, it has been my experience if I went too many places with the original digital file in Photoshop the information was lost.

Maybe someone else has a better explaination.

Lately, all the images have been digital, thought it might be i didnt use the RAW setting. Then uploaded some that were converted from RAW and still didnt have any data. Might be that whatever I do in PS that the data gets lost/removed. Thanks for the imput.

To expand a bit upon what Ron said, using Save For Web strips unneccessary (for display) data from the file (EXIF data being one, resource fork data, and preview thumbnail data being others, especially for Mac users) in order to slim it down for size.

It also automatically changes the color profile to sRGB, the dpi to 72, and colors to the "web-safe" pallette (which I hate, and is why I rarely if ever use it).

I haven't experimented, but I believe that it does retain copyright tags, if you assign the values to the file.

Plus What Tom Said (Hi Tom!)

Forgot to add - if you haven't seen your EXIF data before, open your image in Photoshop, and go to File>File Info>Camera Data

That's exactly what I've found too,..which really stinks, because I would like to have the image look more crispy than just saving as.."save as" does..while maintaining the file info for posting the image..

Rats!

What I do now is, down size the image in 4 steps and re-sharpen it a little at the last stage (when it is 600x400 px), I created an Action for this and assigned a hot key,..one keystroke and it's done,..then "Save As", and use the least amount of compression that keeps me under 150K.

When ya say downsize the image in 4 steps......what does that mean? Im still pretty new to the PS world.
Is that just by image / image size / drop the height and width by 20 % or so and keep doing that till ya get 600 x 400?

As shot, the image size is 2048 high x 3072 wide.

When you resize you are not saving each time correct?

Another question.....why do it it steps....like I said, still new to
PS'ing. Does it mess something up to just resize in one shot?
