Yeah, I thought so too. Gave it to my son though a couple years back, then he gave it to his girlfriend, or I would just go back to using it. My other son has a G5, maybe I'll borrow that for a while.

Thanks Chip, that was really the big question, just don't understand why it takes so much money to get it, isn't it just an extra step to do JPEG, what's so hard about giving it to me RAW, even on a P&S? Must be a marketing thing.

I'd love to have a 5D, but at least I can look at it as by the time I get the money together, they'll have something better. But I definitely like Canon for digital, even though I've always used Nikon for film.

My other option is to get another film scanner. My LS-2000 is still in fine shape, but I've got my doubts whether it's still supported under XP (got it running now under ME). Guess I should check though.

Thanks for the input.

My current digital inventory includes a Canon 10D, a Powershot S70 and an Olympus E-1. If I had some money, I'd like to have a 5D. I like them all, although each has a different purpose. I got the S70 to have a pocket camera that take with me when I wanted to travel light and try to be unobtrusive. It has its drawbacks, but it works pretty well and still allows some creative control. I have never had any significant problems with any of them, but the 10D doesn't always fire strobes through its PC connector. I think it's just a loose connection. I have been looking for a used DSLR to set up for infrared. The D60s that I see on Ebay tend to bring around $500 and the 10Ds seem to run in the $800 to $1000 range. I might be tempted to buy a used camera for backup, but considering the price, I think that I would rather buy a new camera if it is to be my only camera.

Thanks Bill. The use you state for the S70 is exactly why I'd want such a camera myself. I find lots of times I wish I'd had a camera with me, but I'm not going to lug my F3 with me everywhere I go. I'm about to look up the specs on the Leica D-LUX 2. Still hoping to find a P&S that does RAW.

Well, finally found what I was looking for. The Leica D-LUX 2 does both RAW and TIFF. A little pricey, but hey, it's a Leica, has lots of nice features.

The S70 does do RAW. At least, Canon says it does. I don't have mine with me, so I can't check. I went to powershot.com and lloked up the specs for the S70 and the S80. The S70 does, the S80 doesn't. I went to the download library and am downloading the S70 manual .pdf. It's not done yet, so I can't check that either. Canon did some things between the S70 and S80 that would make me glad that I got the S70. Not the least was that the S70 uses compact flash cards, which is what all of my other cameras use. I'm presently using my older 128MB cards with the S70. I have never used RAW on the S70, but I would like to have the ability to.
