Well, look at it this way. Most D50 kits are bodies USA at $575 or so, and a lens worth about 130 all thrown together for around $700.
Here are some insider notes.
Deluxe cleaning kit (cost $2) filter kit, depending on where it is from, costs about $10-20$
Memory reader, ok $5 at best
1gb SD card, standard speed, ok, $65 ish
Case...well that one is complimentary
Battery, generic, costs about $10-15
The pods, well, lets not compare them to bogen shall we
The sigma lenses, ok, they got some value to them, they can do the job but they arn't the sharpest glass in the shed.
Counting all of this, it seems like a good deal at first.
But what is missing? Can anyone spot the Nikon warranty? Mack warranty? Any gurantee's from them? They essentially took a healthy Nikon USA (or not) D50 and stripped it down for its parts and selling them off here and there. Shipping costs etc help inflate those rates. It looks good on paper but they are ultimately turning a whoppin' profit on selling off the parts. Nikon USA would not be thrilled by this, odds are they arn't Nikon authorized dealers.
And factory sealed, not quite, shrink wrapped more then likely.
I would be cautious of such things, but in the end they sometimes are just a way to get a lot for a little. But being a pro, ....quasi pro.....advanced amateur....ok, being PICKY.... I wouldn't do it.
For around $700 you get the body, the 18-55 lens, all the connection cables, manuals, warranty, software basic, caps for body and lens, nikon battery, all the ways it should be. And for the two lens package hovering around $875.
Do some research also and make sure this isn't a bait and switch joint that takes the money then makes your package and ships it months later.
best of luck
