Clint,

I upgraded from 6.0 to 7.0 about two months ago. I like it and am glad I spent the $$ to make the change. The healing brush works somewhat the same, but very differently, then the clone tool. Many times a blemish can be corrected with just a single click of the healing brush. It seems to blend the texture of the corrected area with the surrounding texture much better and very easily. Of course sometimes the clone tool is still the best tool, but I now find myself using the healing brush about 90 percent of the time. As for the file viewer, it is great to be able to scroll through an entire "roll" easily and see all of the shooting details for each image selected, all done very easily. Overall it was a good choice for me.

Also, I am now using the Adobe raw file converter which is an Adobe plug-in (only works with 7). It is very easy to use and very, very flexible. But it does cost another $99. It will also be included in the next version of Photoshop at no additional cost, but that is about a year away.

Hope this helps.

Tony

In addition to what Tony said, 7 has custom brushes and can behave more like a painting app than 6 if that's important to you. Also, the patch tool, which is an augmentation to the healing brush, is cool. Basically select an area to be fixed (large area of acne/blemishes) and drag it to a "clean" area and it cleans up the skin.
