Another vote for Alien Bees. But IMHO, there's no real need for the super high powered units with today's digital cameras, let alone specially coated flash tubes. Any digital SLR will produce virtually noise free images at ISO 400 and below, and with glamour, the closer the light to the subject the better.

I'm in the process of changing out my Photogenic lights (Studio Max II 320B's) with the Bees at a rate of one per month. With the wired remote I'll have complete control of every light. Mine will all be the B400 lights...if I find myself in need of a stronger light later, I can send it back for an upgrade later.

I owned several of them a few years ago - long story as to why I don't still have them, and the 400s are plenty for my needs (I rarely shoot any tighter than f/11).

Image below taken with a mix of Alien Bees, older WL 10,000 (coffee can-style), my Photogenic 320Bs and a coupla old Honeywell Slave Strobonar 202s...
