I have the 70-200 f/2.8 ED lens and it's great. Just borrowed the 28-70 f/2.8 ED this weekend and I love it. This is my next expenditure for sure.

I know that G type lenses are lenses that send distance info to the camera body but do not have aperture rings. The D type lens does.

I only knew this because I just read it in the instructions for a new Nikon sppedlight I bought.
