It seems that vinyl is taking off as a backdrop material. Anyone use it? I hear it wipes easily clean. I found a company that makes any color for about $150.00 bucks including shipping. That's for a 10x20. Too good to be true??? I need to know if you use it, is it TOO reflective??? Any problems/issue with that? All vinyl has some type of sheen to it so that worries me.
Any feedback is appreciated!
Thanks!
Nicole

A number of years ago, I found some vinyl in different colors and patters, in 6' wide rolls at a fabric shop. I tried three or four lengths and they seemed to work out, well.

To cut the shine, I used a 'matte spray' that was sold at the local photo shop - don't know if it still available, but it worked pretty well without leaving any obvious (visible) residue.

The only problem I had was the widest they had was 6' and, if I remember right, it was fairly expensive.

For the price, I'd say try it and see how it works for you. My favorite ones were textured.. but the no-textured ones worked ok, as well.

Thanks Wayne for the input! I noticed Picture People at the mall has a white vinyl and Denny's is selling them for $400.00 so I thought, what the heck, I'll try it for the price.

I just inherited a five rolls of colored vinyl from another photographer who grew tired of using them. So far, I've only tried the textured black (see below) but intend to try the other colors at my shoot Friday. Stay tuned.
