Can anybody give me an advice concerning the best size for a stripbox? Would be 11"x36" a good size?

THX

Well, I went the route of a small softbox because I can always mask out the light I don't need. That gives me versatility.

next to my mola beauty dish, my chimera stripbox is my favorite modifier! i think 11x36 is a great size with much functionality. in the image below, both the dish and the stripbox are at work. (plus a small softbox overhead, behind her, and a little to the right... okay, and maybe some foamcore in front of her as well. but the dish and the strip are doing the lion's share of the work!)

Just browsed through the Aurora Lightbank catalogue. They offer a white or a silver inside reflektor material. What would be better for skin?

I have a large softbox that I use as a strip light by making masks for the face. I cut a black cloth to fit the face, then cut ot the size of the strip that I want. That way I have several "strip boxes" without having to buy any. I have some shaped into circles as well.

One tip: when cutting it can help to leave a small strip across the opening to keep the fabric from falling open.

I think this could also be done with some rosco Cinefoil.

Clever idea - especially the "strip across the opening" bit.
Thanks.

well, that's kind of a matter of what you want to achieve. if you want specular highlights, go with the silver. if you want flatter, more even, light, go with white.
