We're looking into possibly getting it. Cost and timing. I'm waiting to see some real-user reviews. Then we'll see how this would work in our workflow and what the benefits will be.

I'm going to check it out at the Apple store when it becomes available (November?) to see how snappy it runs on an iMac with 2GB of RAM. The specs scare me a bit, but I like the idea and the workflow looks awesome. The price tag is a little steep, but I have at least one kid in school so I should be able to wrangle a student discount version. We'll see.

I never liked the way that I Photo messed up my file structure. I want to be able to find photos in the operating system as well as bridge. If aperture has the same storage outside the operating system I would not want it.

iView MediaPro is a great program for Cataloging (and a lot of other things). I helped someone get this set up a while back and it's really working well for them. The new version, iView MediaPro 3, was just announced at Photo Expo. It has a lot of nice new features and the price tag and system requirements are workable.

Check out the Press Release on it.

the Apple mentality. Here is another example of charging premium prices when they could sell ten times as many if they'd half the price and perhaps 100 times that at at $99.

Saw the program at Photo Plus in NYC this past weekend where it was officially introduced. Unless I misheard the requirements, those without a G% or the new powerbook need not worry about Aperature as it won't run on older systems. I believe the issue is video card compatibility as this program uses a TON of that! Anyone else there can verify or disagree to confirm.
