While I was gone Apple not only released kick ass new hardware, they announced a pro level photography workflow software.

Aperture

Looks way cool. Make sure you watch the photograph profiles, they have some cool behind the scenes photography stuff.

Now all I need is duel 30 inch cinema displays.

This looks pretty nice. I was looking at the site probably the same time you were.
They make it very polically correct by showing the three profiles with a Canon photographer, a Nikon photographer, and a Mamyia medium format photographer. And they all have large 30" monitors to show their work on...

I am lost are they trying to compete with Photoshop? I would like to see a side by side comparison, but knowing Apple they would make it to be just that without the learning curve of Photoshop...
This is crazy, first time I am hearing of this...

a replacement for CR2'c bridge and maybe some organizational software. It has limited image manipulation and a humongus price. Go to the site!

This isn't a competitor to PS. Its more the workflow oriented thing. There is no indepth manipulation tools, no healing brush, air brush etc. Its more like Capture One's stuff, but better. Helps you organize, make big adjustments, print.

One cool feature it has is Stacks, which group photos into "stacks" based on time proximity. So if you shoot a bunch of images say of one model. Then a few minutes later shoot a different model. It should group them by model.

ok I thoroughly looked it over, I like, I like, great for organizational stuff right on the spot of photos to show client, model too... I like the many many vast features, they really did their homework on how to make organization simpler and diverse.
Though I still say, judging by how Adobe thinks I think they will incorporate alot of this later into Bridge, once they see a rush of people buying Aperture, they wouldnt want to lose that business...

It's a good thing they introduced the new Powerbooks alongside this nifty new software, because the minimum system requirements are too much for what I am currently using.. Did you see that... 1 gig minimum RAM!! wow! My Powermac is maxed out at 1.5.. It'll probably run like a snail with just that much though..

I'd sure like to hear reviews from any GG'ers here who buy it..

I read somewhere they created this just to increase sales of duel 30" monitors.

It's defiantly a pro-tool. The Final Cut to iPhoto.

Comparing it to it's competition of Capture One Pro it comes it equal price wise. Just another flavor to choose for. Here's hoping they come out with an 'express' version like they did of Final Cut for us crazy people that don't make money off our photos but take enough to make it really worthwhile to use.
