Moved to a MAC over the weekend and need some feedback on the color of this image. No need to critique the image, I just grabbed one and did my normal workflow.

Does the color look alright to those on a Windows machine?

A bit high on the cyan in the flesh tones. Try, if you havn't already, opening up the curves and use the white part of her eyes for a white balance, they seem a bit dark with some cyan. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe because "MAC" is an acronym, and "Mac" (note the difference in CAPS) is a shortening of the name, Macintosh.

Welcome to the fold...You'll now find that instead of working on your computer, you'll have to work.

Whadja get?

Oh yeah, color looks pretty good here...

Do yourself a favour and buy one of the many reliable calibration devices and keep your monitor profiled. The cost is next to nothing compared with your outlay on other photography and computer gear and you will never have to worry about your color again. Asking for opinions on any photo forum is about as good as useless, at least half the people who comment on your color balance will be viewing your image on a never been calibrated in its life monitor... You'll get comments like "seems a little green to me" or "seems to be a bit pink" for the same image.
And on top of that you will find that correct color is a very subjective quality..

For what it worth the CB and contrast look fine here. And yes it is

Nothing special. Since I didn't know if I'd enjoy working on a Mac or not, I just went with a Mac Mini....upgraded the RAM to a Gig and bought a couple 300 Gig external firewire drives. Suites my needs just fine for now

Oh by the way, I love working on it....should have made the move sooner.

Absolutely. Have one ordered. I simply had to get a couple sets sent off to the lab today (Tuesday) and figured some feedback wouldn't be a bad thing. I can get a pretty good idea of whether the color is on or not by looking the CMYK values....but thought I'd ask here too.

Thanks!

Don't forget about the 'other' Mac, McIntosh. The finest audio equipment made in the good old USA!!!

Welcome to the light. I switched to a 20" iMac in March and bought a 15" Powerbook a few months ago. I highly recommend the iMac or PowerMac series. I'm now set until the switch to Intel next year, but I just upgraded the iMac to 2GB of RAM and what a difference it makes. Tiger does love RAM. With Photo Mechanic and Photoshop CS2 open, the activity monitor still shows about 30% free RAM and the system runs lickety split.

Enjoy the new machine!
