I am thinking about getting another reflector. I already have a white / silver Westcott that I just love. I am looking at a gold coloured one. I remembered hearing about California Sunbounce at one of Rolando's workshop. I tried to go to the website but it's all in Euros and tough to figure out what I need. I am looking for a something around 48' gold in colour that is collapsible. I understand that they have zebra ones which I think might be very benificial. Anybody have another website I can look at? Prices?

But keep in mind that the Sunbounce reflectors are not collapsible like the Westcott ones. You can disassemble them for travel, but it takes a minute or so to put together or take apart.

The other thing to realize is that the Sunbounce reflectors are a good deal more expensive than others. Here is a list of prices from Samy's

The gold one in the 4x6 size is $260.00 which explains model Emilia's expression when she heard the price:

I'm seeking a large diffuser, but I think California Sunbounce is too pricey. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm considering the diffusion panel kits offered by LightingMagic.com Any help is appreciated.

On the topic of gold reflectors, I got my 42" 5-in-1 collapsible reflector from Adorama.

The Adorama is decent quality? I've seen them on E-Bay but shyed away because they look awful cheap.

I have never used the lighting magic panels you linked to, but I think you would probably save money purchasing some rip stop nylon from a local fabric dealer (black for flags and white for diffusion). You can then build frames from PVC purcahsed at the local hardware store. I believe lighting magic expects you to build your frame from PVC anyhow, so you are paying $130 for some diffusion and flag fabric and a couple of clamps.

If you want color corrected diffusion material try looking at the Rosco diffusion material. I think 4'x25' rolls are around $1450 and you could make 3 4'x8' panels with one roll.

Yes, I like the Adorama 5-in-1 reflector but I admit, I have nothing to compare it to since that's my first and only reflector. It's very easy to collapse and pack. The wire frame is pretty sturdy. The only "problem" I have is on windy days when it's hard to hold in place, but that's going to happen with any reflector.

On the subject of large diffusers, I succumbed to the urge to buy something, so I just bought the Westcott 48" x 72" Diffuser from B&H.

I'll be looking forward to trying a new technique on my next beach shoot. Diffusing the sun and using a gold reflector to fill the shadow side.

You'll like the Westcott. My silver / white is Westcott and I love it! Very sturdy.
