Same company right?? would it hurt to mix/match these monolights when making new purchases? more importantly, are the accessories universal between both brands, it seems like they are but i could be wrong.

Idid, I had two WL X800 as my main lights and three AB's (800's) in the back

acessories are all the same, but having a 250 modeling light makes a huge difference.

Yes, they're both manufactured by Paul Buff, in Nashville. The White Lightnings are the more heavy-duty of the two, especially the Ultra series.

The accessories are the same.....everything is compatible aside from the basic things such as flash tubes, modeling bulbs, the sync cord is nearly the same..1/8th vs 1/4 jacks which can be converted either way with a 2 dollar part from Radioshack...

Heck, I use old "Ultra" series White Lightning monolights along side my new Bees.. I actually might dump my 1200's and replace them with another pair of 1600's......just to show you how much I like my Bees!
