I don't recall if you said what version of Window's you were using, but some versions were more prone to this problem than others. But if your problem was the the result of the "write cache" problem, then you'd need to apply the proper hotfix to correct it, to prevent future problems.

thanks, I kinda thought that originally seeing as how I have XP (ex-pee - think about that ...) but I checked with the MS tech while he was remoted into my computer, and everything was kosher and updated. HE also felt it wasnt a write cache issue, as after I had copied all the RAW files from the CF cards to the hard drive, I also use Windows explorer, Adobe Bridge and PSCS2 to view the files, and the images. and had shut down all as well before the shut down .. actually I had even checked email to make sure of an address before I left for the other shoot. and only turned off the computer after getting ready to walk out the door.
