Hey All,

I just oredered my alien bees package with an array of verious other items. 1 1600, 3 800's, stands, 2 boom arms, soft box 30x60, brolly box, 22" beauty dish, grids, gels, barn doors etc. I am hoping some of you have images of your studio set up that you would not mind posting for me. Strobes are going to be a whooleee new world and I am sure i will get hit pretty hard on my lighting....so be it....lol. I will definately and have definately learned alot from you all. Post em if you got em. I will be doing "commecial style" high key as well as various different sets that i will be building. What I am looking for is a "general" type of set up. Any help would be great.

Thanks all!
Michael

I haven't used it personally but I did M/U for a photographer who was using it. I must say the results were nice... there were alot of "wow"s and "ooooh"s. I want to get one too! Let me know how you like it.

Hey, Majoy. You kickin' it here on GG now? Good for you. Told you it was a good crowd. I have a 22" dish for my Hensel lights. Swing by tomorrow and I'll show it to you. Should be the same sort of thing as the Bees' dish. Wait a minute, was I the photographer that was using it?

I've posted these before, probably answering a similar question. These are all Norman strobes, but the theory is the same no matter what system and power levels you're using. This is the setup I use for white-background catalog shoots, and you can see the results (different model) below. This is just one setup - what you want to achieve will dictate how you set up the lights, and what modifiers you use.

I used to have a pair of the 22 inch dishes from Paul Buff. They were pretty nice, more directional than an umbrella and more contrasty than a softbox. The only problem that I had with them was how deep they were, they took up alot of space which made location use problematic. I think they were about 1 foot deep... BTW the ones that I had are not the same ones they sell now and I don't know how deep the new ones are.

Hey
Andy,

Thanks so much for the reply. Those images are great. That will really help me out. Sorry I havent been able to get ahold of ya (which I will do in the next few days after the weekend), as I have been soooo busy with school, the Navy, Car shows blah blah. Here is a brand new model I shot in Jax last weekend. She has been modeling for about only a few months. She is originally from Norway and has only been in the states a few years. Thought you might want to take a look at her. I know there are issues with string and hair in the images. The wind was a B &*( ch that day but we made the best of it. Talk soon.

Thanks,
Michael

Thanks Andy, this is a big help for alot of us. Just wondering if you have the stop differences that those light are set at. Might help even more, but I do realize that distance can also make a huge differance.

Thanks
