This might be a dumb question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. I'm getting a CD together of the images of my shoot before last for the model (late I might add -- she's been sooooooo patient with me ). She's got an A4-sized book. So my question, as this is the first time I've ever prepared images for a CD from a model shoot before, do I crop the images to exactly 8.2677 x 11.6929 inches to fit an A4 sheet precisely (you know, using the full sheet), or do I make the images slightly smaller (without cropping) to fit within those dimensions?

Thanks for the help,

Sam

Sam

It's a matter of preference. I think that borderless images are for vacation snapshots - not model portfolios. That was something Kodak invented in the 60's to entertain us and sell more prints.

What's in her book right now?

You need to find-out how she plans to print the images. If the prints will be made borderless, then yes...A4 size at 250-300 dpi.

This is one of the least understood aspects of digital imaging. And the models typically know less than the photographer. I offer to print the images for the model, and price my prints just above the local 1-hour lab. The models seem to appreciate the fact that they know they're going to get good prints, and I feel better about my hard work being represented properly in her portfolio.

Hmm, I guess I just need to ask her how she wants these things printed. That's not a bad idea, offering to make the prints yourself. Maybe I should do that too.

Thanks for the help man!

Hey Bob,

She's done lots of different stuff, except nudes -- you can see some of her previous work here.

Now, if you were asking how her images are printed in her book now, then I'm not for sure. Hmm, I guess I shoulda just asked her all this in the first place, huh?

'Preciate the help Bob!
