Mr. Smith

Thank you for giving me some sound advice and another issue I need to look at aswell.

This is the same image I showed Andy on his post. I am having problems with both the hue and saturation. What it appears is the red tones and probably a few other colors are gone when I convert from RGB to SRGB. I am getting full hues and saturation in the print size RGB.

Thank you

If both are the same basic image, but one on right just "modded" by GG's server, why is the GG modded version sharper, a different color and has more shadow detail?
David B.
ps...GGs server only resizes the portfolio images, not posted images, as your included image proves.

Yes, I'm only talking about loading photos to the portfolio. There are some other threads where I go into more detail about this subject.
As to sharper, that is more an illusion. Photos that have been saved at a very low qaulity setting will have more JPG artifacts and this can sometimes be confused for sharpening.

Here's how I made the over all dual image.

1. Upload the right image to GG portfolio.
2. Look at it in the portfolio, and then right click on it and save it to my harddrive.
3. Bring it into PS along with the orginal image that was 600x480.
4. Put the two images together into one image and put the type at the top of each.
5. File | SAve for web.
6. Save to my website.
7. Post using the Image command pointing to photo on my server.

Cheers,
rfs

I read in a post that Hackman made that if GG has to resize the image it also applies some sharpening so that it does not loose the original sharpness. Personally I think the image on the right looks better than the soft image on the left. Personal preference.

If you will take a close look at the right image and compare the haloing around the hair lips and eyes with the left image you'll see the large difference. Because of the nature of JPG artifacts it can make an image look sharper on some monitors. But in this case the image as such obvious artifacting that it just jumps out at you. Now if you are on a small or older CRT (or small lcd), you may not really be seeing the images as they really are. I have talked to some people who when they viewed the side by side on a large high resolution monitor that almost fell out of their seats when they saw the difference.
