I've been trying to find the scarf Rolando recommends as an over the lens diffuser. Can't find it any where, though the local Walmart does have it in white. I wonder if his articles have caused a world wide buying frenzy? I'm afraid that with a 90% reflection ratio, the white scarf may cause lens flair. Of course that might be a good thing if that's what I want. I wonder what it may do for high key shots? Anybody tried it? Back in the day, I used to experiment with mesh materials with varying opening sizes from hose stockings to nylon mesh materials for different effects. Rolando's recommended scarf looks like about the perfect thing - if I can ever find black.

Try black nylons, cheap ones can be found for around $1 a pair.

True enough. Like I said, I've used everything - including black nylons, which will require more exposure compensation than a looser weave, effecting each f stop differently. My question was more to the effects of white diffusion materials. I really like the just enough effects of Rolando's scarf.

I've seen similar scarfs that may work at the $1 stores that seem to be popping up everywhere. At that price, you can buy several different ones and try them all out.
Cheers,
