Dunno if the "5D" is real...but a local source told me a few weeks ago Canon was coming out with something incredible in the late fall or winter and it would be not much more expensive than a 20D, but closer to a 1D in specs.

well I had heard the rumors about them coming out with the 5D, but I ran across these images on another forum and wasn't sure if the images were real or if someone had spent too much time in photoshop.

Announcements formally next week to begin the pre-photo east hype.

Canon sales meetings wrapped up this week.

Nikon will be following shortly after the buzz dies down a little

Well,..... that would be a very good job of PS'ng.. They also included a new button on the back that no one really knows much about,...and they changed the look of the body completely, unlike fakes I've seen where they morf two bodies together..

The guy who leaked that out,... well,...I know the story but.....let's just say, that I doubt if he will ever have any relations with Canon ever again..

I'll quote you something I "heard" from a guy who claimed to have used a 1Ds Mk2 type of full frame camera with a different AF system..

I don't know if this is true or not,...but this is what I heard..

"Lots of smaller AF sensors, too many to count".

Could this be the next 1D series camera in the making..? I think so... Plus I heard that they will be combining the two 1D bodies together, and so away with the 1.3 format.. which that means,...full frame body, blazing speed..

Oh, and as far as the D2x goes for sports shooting in the 2.0 format mode,... I know a guy who claimed that the AF is "often off".. so,... I guess there is not much use for this 2.0 format feature if the accuracy diminishes.. So,... with that info spreading out there among sports shooters,... Nikon kicked the bucket once again..

I highly doubt they'll come out with a full frame camera with more than 10mpx for under $3k. They'd pretty much kill the market for any of their cameras from a 20d to a 1Ds-mkII. It's not impossible but it would be a big risk unless they had mkIIIs up their sleeve. I think it's more coservative, and likely, that they'll replace the 1D-mkII. It's dumb, not a significant mpx increase from the 20d, it's got a 1.3x crop factor and doesn't take EF-S lenses. It makes sense to drag that segment of the market up to full frame first. On the other hand Canon has made drastic moves in the past before (*cough*DRebel*cough*) . We'll see!
