I would like some advice on puchasing this lens. I have found about 10 reviews on the web, and there seems to be some good and some bad reviews. Anyone have any experience with it? I will be using this lens for primarily headshots? Thanks in advance.

Nothing bad about this lens. It is as sharp as the 1.4 just a tad slower but much much lighter and cheaper. It is a fantastic optic and anyone saying anything bad about has no idea what they are talking about.

The lense rocks. Buy it and use it well.

The 85 1.8D is a great lens. I find mine to be very crisp and dead on with the focus (I've seen posts where others have said that the lens is a little soft). I use mine quite a bit at night shoots because of the speed of the lens.

Hey Jim, which lense did you reccomend to me to get with the Nikon D70? It might be zoom. I'm kinda looking for a new lense, and from what I understand, you can not only use one of these newer lenses on an older manual focus, film camera. Oh, I'm looking for a lense for portature, preferrably a Nikon lense for my Nikon body. Thanks.

AF 28-200 Nikon 3.6-5.6. Only lens I own for my D70. It is perfect for me as I use this camera only for portrait work. And since I never remove it, the chance of dust entering the camera are lessened.

It is actually shorter in size than the kit lens and the same price!

You get a decent head shot from 10 to 12 feet without the model feeling you are in her face.
