I just printed a photo in photoshop and it came out with a magenta cast. I used the basic set up (Best Photo, Premium Glosshy PP) and tried the advanced mode using the ICM and Off (no color adj) still the same. Printed on Kodak Premium glossy.

By the way I printed 2 8x10s this morning. 1 on the kodak premium gloss and 1 on eopson premium gloss. kodak had some light magenta areas and the epson not as noticeable. the rest of the photo area was on hit. but now its the whole picture. i hope my problem its just adjustments. Any suggestions?

The cast is really there, I had that problem kick my tail for weeks.
Check your monitors adjustments, is it calibrated.
Do print preview mode before printing, If the two images don't match exactly your monitor needs calbration.
There is such a huge difference between OS 9.22 AND OS 10.33 My Mac repair guy determaned that my video card needed repacement. That did make a big difference.
You can go into channel mixer mode and tweek down Magenta, but that should be a last dich resolve.
Make sure you calibration is right.
Always print preview, before commiting to that expensive paper.
Do you have any dark room experiance???

Check for double profiling. That is generally the cause of the magenta cast with Epsons.

Let Photoshop Determine Colors.
Set your Paper Profile.
Print with Preview.
Set your Epson Print Driver under Custom Settings, Advanced to No Color Adjustment. Make whatever other setting you need to make there.
Choose paper that matches your Photoshop Paper Profile setting.
Choose orientations, centering, resolution, etc...

If you have done the above and have gotten the magenta cast then there are probably two profiles installed and running. Delete everything and make sure only one driver is running.

It took me weeks with my first Epson 2200 to figure this out but the same problem and solution pertains to even my 4800.

Hope this helps.

Sherwin.

Sherwin, Should I be adjusting the profiles from the control panel in windows or in photoshop?

I tried to do what you said above with no luck. I'm really unfamiliar with setting up printers and profiling etc. How do I find out only one driver is working? Jeez I'm getting frustrated now

I really appreciate you guys trying to help me out though..

Do all of your prints look the same? If so, I would do a print check utility and see if you have a clogged nozzle.

Apples and oranges, When printing your intoducing software, your not in display and posting mode mode. The guy after me told you about ICC profiles and he is absolutly correct, running two profiles incorrect paper and monitor calibration are all factors in that magenta extra cast. I too have an epson 2200.
I could not detect the monitor problem with my eyes. I have a princeton eo900 monitor, Looks great in System OS 9.22, on the internet is fine, but there was a problem that needed to be addressed.
Check your software first because you are way out.

"I got an Epson R1800 for $300!!!!" LOL...maybe this is why.

Just kidding with you. Looks to me like either a clogged nossle, or maybe you didn't pull the plastic off of an ink catridge or something. I would try the different printer tests and see if you notice anything funky.

It could also be the double profile thing...try printing an image from another program that doesn't do any profiling...like the windows picture viewer or something and see if you get the same problem.
