Well, I'm home today because of bad weather so I decided it was time for a new poll. The question is which magazines influence your glamour photography, modeling or make-up?

If you've ever attended one of my workshops, you know I push how photographers, models, and make-up artists should look at other magazines for inspiration and basically to "steal" ideas--one way of course is looking at the "catch lights" of the model. So with that said, which magazines influence your work? Cosmo for Cosmopolitan, Vanity for Vanity Fair, etc....

Maxim or Vogue?
Maxim
Cosmo
FHM
Vogue
Elle
Playboy

Can't believe "Low Rider" wasn't mentioned!

Kidding, I like to try and marry them all together, to come up with my own unique style.

How 'bout Loaded, Bikini/Raygun? Or more alt-fashionish, Dazed and Confused, i-D, Nylon, etc? Don't forget those UK publications, though not all on this list are. Very generally speaking, as with most pop-culture phenomena, UK rags are just a bit better than ours. And that new New York quarterly, Vellum, is stunning. Granted, all of the work looks like Dah Len's stuff (a look which I think is overly popular in New York right now) but very high quality nonetheless, an intriguing marriage of fashion, glamour, and even a touch fine art all rolled into one very well-printed and presented publication. Too bad it's only quarterly.

I'd be interested to see what the models and MUAs (what few of them there are) thought of this as well.

I'm beginning to think issue one is a myth along the lines of the Loch Ness monster. I couldn't find one either. The cover image that they were showing on their website at the time was gorgeous.

How much you want to bet that in a few years' time issue one becomes a collectable with a certain monetary value?

selection available? The style of image depends a lot on the model, the location, the light, what I had (or didn't have) for breakfast, and a bunch of other variables. At one time or another it's probably been all of them, and Popular Mechanics.

Anyway since everybody is just talking about their favorite magazine of the moment, I'd say ZINK (for today). Why? Antoine Verglas's Heidi Klum on the cover and 5 full page shots along with 9 pages of denim, and the Hue set by Alessandro Dotti.
