SO I bit the bullet and upgraded (I guess) to 10.4.1 from 10.3.9.

After doing so, naturally I changed the file associations as appropriate (jpegs open with Photoshop CS by default, etc.).

NOW...Double clicking the file, dragging the file icon to the PS icon in the dock, control-clicking to open via pop-up menu results in the same action: Photoshop starts (if it's not running) or becomes active, but the file never opens.

Opening from the browser works as before, opening from the menubar Open menu works as before.

Any thoughts?

Edit>> I should add that this is not a "new" (as in clean) install of 10.4.1, this is an upgrade/archive and install.

I'm confused! What did you upgrade? Photoshop CS was V8 and Photoshop CS2 is v9, so what program is 10.4.1?
Cheers,
rfs

Sorry - using Photoshop CS (version 8)

I upgraded the system software to 10.4.1 (Tiger) from 10.3.9 (Panther)

I thought I mentioned that, I guess not

There is a file, cant remember exaclty what it was named, that gets overwritten when you reload your OS.

When that file gets hosed, you see the behavior your now getting. If you have a "previous system folder" left on your drive, you can restore the old version of the file. If you dont have that, you need to reload photoshop.

The quickest way to fix your problem is to reload photoshop. Baring that, if you do a seach on the Adobe website, its listed in the FAQ for Mac photoshop.

Thanks Kelly - I figured it was something stupid/simple like a permissions error or something, but running Tinkertool had no effect.

Off I go to dig through the pile of cd's - I've slept since I installed PS.

Thanks again!

Jon
