Does anyone who uses a an Olympus e-1 have any experience with the new Sigma telephoto lenses that have been developed for the 4:3 technology. The lenses are much more affordable. The lense I am specifically looking at for in the field livestock shots is the 55-200. I certainly would appreciate any input.
Thanks

I've used the 55-200 with the E-300, and it is noticibly less sharp at 150 and beyond than Oly's own 40-150 "kit" lens. Takes f/9 to get as sharp as the Oly at wide open (f/4.5). For the slight focal length difference, I believe you'd be better off, and happier in the long run, just shooting at 150 and cropping slightly.

My 2¢....

That sounds like the "typical" Sigma experience I have experienced myself in the days before I switched to Canon,....and from what I hear from just about everyone else who have used their lenses on their cameras, regardless of which brand they put them on..

Oh,.....and regardless of the "findings" on Pop Photography's lens tests,....it seems they always favor the off brand lenses better than their name brand counterparts....which I find to be unreliable.......especially after they gave Tamron's 200-400mm f5.6 "push-pull" zoom lens the "Lens of the year" award when it was introduced....around 1994.....even though that has got to be one of the worst lenses ever made..

A general rule of thumb, stick to the brand name lenses..
