My new wacom intuos 3 arrived at the house just before I left for work this morning. I have resisted the urge to call in sick, but I can't wait to get home and give it a try.

Anybody got any special tablet-related tips or tricks? Any pitfalls I should watch out for?

I can't wait to try it, as I've found selecting and masking to be very furstrating with a regular optical mouse. I'm hoping this puts some of the joy back into editing.

And now, the new equipment happy dance!

Larry! your going to love it!!!! I've been using Wacom for years..and I dont know how people get by with just a mouse...Wacom comes with a nice utility for customizing the feel of the pen..using the mouse on the wacom pad is awkard at first....and you have to switch back and forth from pen to mouse alot...so you may want to just stick with the Pen..if you have the desk space.

I really would have loved to seen the "equipment happy dance" captured and uploaded as an animated gif.

I have been thinking about getting a tablet...let me know how you like it.

It's not a pretty sight. There's a reason I don't frequent dance clubs. :-)

I've heard that the best use for the mouse is as a paper weight. We'll see. Too bad the thing is so big and won't fit in my keyboard/mouse tray. The place I ordered it from was out of the 4x5, so I was "forced" into the 6x8.

I went to the web site for the Wacom Intuos 3. There seems to be several sizes. Which one did you pick up?

6x8. I was going to go for the 4x5, but my vendor of choice was out of that size. The 6x8 might be too large for me, as I tend to take small strokes. We'll see.

Thanks for your quick responce. Some of these products are new to me. What is the advantage of using the Wacom Intuos 3 over a mouse?

Chuck...working with a stylus gives you much more accuracy than a mouse.
