I got the Epson R1800 when it came out and was generally happy with the output. Colors looked good, thought the gloss cartridge was a cool feature. I did get some bronzing on B&W prints however.

Then I got an Epson R2400 and my first print, using the default settings, was of a file that I had previously printed out on the R1800 (in fact it was the photo posted below). Both printed on Epson Premium Luster Paper.

The colors was sooo much better on the R2400 print, detail/resolution was much better too. There was an area on the model's upper arm where the R1800 print looked very blown-out, while the R2400 print show detail!

Anyway, I actually received another one of these R2400 printers in a trade for some camera equipment, so I am looking to sell (or trade) it. read on...

For Sale one Epson R2400 Printer, it has never had ink run through it. Complete with all packaging.

This Printer creates superb prints with the new Epson K3 inks, I tested it against a R1800 with the exact same file/paper and it blew the R1800 print away. Better colors, better skin tones, better defintion, better saturation, gamma and all those other fancy terms...

Prefer a local So. Cal. sale, but will ship within the USA.

Price is firm, $725 + shipping and paypal fees.

Read all about it here:

Will consider a trade for a mint/flawless Canon 70-200L IS f2.8 (must be complete with all original contents)

There are very thorough reviews of both printers at http://www.photo-i.co.uk/ and based on the reviews I suspect that the problems you see with the r1800 are profile related and can be cleared up with custom profiles. It seems that the r1800 shipped with less than ideal profiles, while the 2400 factory profiles seem to be pretty much dead on.

I just order the Epson R2400 last night. We will see how it prints when we get it. Just got a Fuji S3 Pro last month.
