I travel alot and am wondering what is the best compact lighting that would work. I have 2 Opus 500 lights , but they are hard to travel with. I do see some speed flashes out there, can any one give me some advice? Julie

There's been some discussion about this before. You ought to try to search the forums and see what you can find. Some people like using camera flash units on lightstands, but I've never tried it.

How about the possibility of renting equipment at your destination? This would vary widely depending on where you're going, of course.

Another option would be to find a way to make your lights easier to travel with. Like maybe UPS them to your destination, then UPS them back. Or you could maybe invest in a nice rolling case that is easier to handle. For example, I've found my Alien Bees fit perfect in a 3-ball bowling ball bag. It has wheels it rolls on, and several handy pockets around the outside. Holds all the cables, cords, radio slaves, everything, and it's easy to load into a vehicle. I doubt I would use this for airline travel, however.

Just some thoughts.

I just bought a Dyna-lite Uni400JRg with Jackrabbitpack for location shooting. 400ws on AC and 320ws on battery. It also uses the same softboxes, etc as my regular dyna-lites.
