I have owned an S2 Pro for about 2 years now. I take an average of 100 exposures per month - and I don't think that is large number. 2 days ago I was setting up for some headshots, with a paying client, and took out the camera, took a few tests shots to make sure everything was ok and came across a problem.
The first image is what the image should look like:

But the second image is what I ended up with after overexposing the heck out of the shot to get something to show up:

Because if I exposed according to the meter the image came up pretty mych black.
So I went to the nearest "Authorized" Fuji service center and was told that the CCD is fried and that this is a common problem with the S2 CCD.
Has anyone else come across this problem? If so, how willing was Fuji to help, financially and technically?
Thanks for any/all info.

Contact Fuji. There were a number of CCDs that were defective and either go black or other failures. They replaced mine and it was over a year out of warranty. There is a bunch of threads on this on DPREVIEW.COM Most of the folks are getting free CCD replacments through Fuji. Serial numbers that have this problem are mainly in the 32XXXXX and 31XXXXX range.

Wouldn't you know it, my serial number is in the 32 range.
I have contacted Fuji and sent them the images shown in my post and await a reply.
Thanks for the info. Appreciate it very much.

Yep. Been there, had that happen as well. This is the infamous "FUJI Black Death". They should fix for free. Takes about 6 to 8 weeks...maybe faster as they have now had LOOOOOTS of practice fixing this. Mine was a 32 series.
