makes my monitor look like a polished turd. actually it looks as if I am viewing through a set of oakley sunglasses. Does anyone know of a better gamma correction tool other than the one that comes with Photoshop!?

I just scanned this image and I cant tell if the colors are right now. Please tell me if they are or not

I'm not color blind, and this monitor shows most of the images on the forum as acceptable. His shirt is sorta faded denim blue and white. The grass looks like sunlit grass, about half green and half yellow. His beard is dark brown with some gray. The burned out areas look white. What else can I tell ya.

Looks a little on the yellow side. But just a tinge. I'm using a mac and ColorSync. If you have the money to invest, getting a monitor calibration tool for your monitor would be the way to go.

Clint, I have a spyder Optical (about $300). You can calibrate your monitor somewhat with Adobe Gamma but you really also need to profile your monitor. You cannot profile your monitor without a separate hardware device like the Optical. If you are doing any sort of color correction, this is really an essential piece in your workflow. If you don't want to spend that much, you can get Profile Prism (for $69) and it will calibrate your monitor a bit better than Adobe Gamma will (it should at least - I haven't tried it myself) but the added benefit is you will be able to create profiles for your scanner and Inkjet RGB printers.
