Can anyone offer any suggestions, or where to look?

I can not open raw files from my D2X in Photoshop CS. The files have an .nef extension and are 19meg files. I get an error message "cannot open file, it is not the right type of file.

Raw files from my D100 open fine. Is there something I need to update??

Thanks in advance

Joe

yu can do the following:

Upgrade to Photoshop CS2 which has the Nikon plug in. You might have to download this plug in or it might be in the version you get.

You can use PS CS version if you add Nikon Capture software to the puter. You will need to buy the capture software and then go to the Nikon tech webpage and download the softward for the D2X. Once this is installed, you will get a Nikon dialogue box when you open PS with raw images. It will convert them in Nikon capture and then put them on the CS workspace after you open them up.

Those 2 choices, I sure some other techie knows way more. I bought the capture software and use CS, and i will have CS2 in a few weeks.

I also had to double my CPU's RAM to be able to handle those huge files. Without it, there was no way to even open up 1 image without locking everything up.

That D2X sure makes nice huge files.

There was a note on one of the other forums that's frequented by Nikonions that Adobe has upgraded ACR to include support for D2x files. So, you don't really have to upgrade to CS2 (which, in the first edition, didn't support the D2X files, either).

Apparently the file is available on Adobe's FTP site - you might go check there.

Went back and found the note... it's on Ron Galbraith's forum, and you can find the story by looking here!

Get the plugin here and follow the instructions given there to install it. If you have a Mac, you have to find the other version. This one is for Windows.

You can find the Mac version of the plug-in here. I don't want to discriminate against Mac's

Forgot something: The above plug-in's are for CS, not CS2 version.
