Hi gang,

I shot pictures for my two boys prom last night and I'm disappointed with the images. I was very careful to focus on the eyes, as I always try to do, and I never shot anything greater than a 70mm lens and I shot with an SB800 flash. I don't think that any one shot had the eyes in focus and they were beyond the point that Photoshop would help any.

Has anyone else noticed with their D70 that the focusing point may be off just a smidgen? And just to let you know, I have about 7000 shots on the camera and I haven't cleaned it at all on the inside. Could that have some bearing upon the focus? I don't see how but I just am not sure.

Any wisdom to share??

Good day!

Mike

I recall something about the focusing being off on a lot of D-70's, but I can't remember the link right now. But I'm pretty sure this is a known issue. I'll search for the link and post it here if I can find it.

Others have told me that the Nikon's do soft focus ...
nice way to say out of focus ...
They were talking bout the D1X and the D70.
You might double clutch focus - same point twice or buy a Canon.

Its at this link of Ken Rockwell's. What you are looking for is way down in the reading under autofocus.
