I've been asked by a freind to photograph their daughter's sweet 16 candle lighting ceremony. Not the whole event but just the candle lighting ceremony.

I've never been to a sweet 16 so I have no idea what the ceremoney involves (other then lighting candles obviously ). I was hoping that one of you more experienced GGers could give me some pointers as to what key points I should be photographing and what camera settings I should use to capture the event.

I'm not sure if I should use straight flash or use a small softbox I have for my Nikon flash. Not the small diffuser that comes with the flash but a 3rd party mini softbox for the Nikon SB-80.

Or should I shoot available light using a tripod to capture the abience of the ceremony and low lighting. What lens do you recommend, etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Luis
