Thought you RAW shooters might be interested in this gizmo.

It is a 2.5" external hard drive that is powered by your laptop. It is a lifesaver for me because I like to keep my images with me.

Only $200 retail. Unless you need a viewer this is a nice gizmo.

never trust your important files to an external USB drive they are prone to failures and very difficult to recover from.

My experience with external devices has been very good. I carry my images on one so that I can edit on multiple computers. These devices are prone to failure, but from what I have seen, it is generally the electronics that fail and not the harddrive. The first device I used did fail, so I removed the harddrive and bought another enclosure. As long as the device is adequately ventilated, and there are not severe shocks/impacts to it, there should not be any problems.
