all of a sudden, my 10d's beep doesn't work (yeah, it's turned on.) and i've noticed its not recording all the exif data, e.g., no lens info with my zoom. any ideas other than taking it to service?

Don't say that JT. I just bought my 10D (poor hobbiest) and have just started to get the feeling that it's part of me. I just love it.

Leave it alone.... I hate that silly beep. It scares off the wildlife when I focus.

Mine working fine (although I did get a 20D and use that mainly). The only thought I have is perhaps reloading the firmware. Could be a software-related glitch as far as the EXIF info part.

try cleaning the contacts between the lens and the body with an eraser (on both).

i dont' think so. it's kept in a hard case, in a locked cabinet. but i am going to try cleaning the contacts on both the lens i mostly use and the camera's lens fitting.
