If you missed the info on a new RAW editor I mentioned in an earlier post here is the web site where you can download the thing. It is one of the best RAW editors I have found. Better and faster than CS by a bunch. (and I love Photo Shop but--).

RAW Photo Desk

It is almost fool proof. After you have downloaded and installed the program go to their home page again and install any necessary drivers for your camera (If necessary) and in 10 minutes if you have ever used photoshop you are editing RAW. Most of the time I use photo shop to resize and crop images and that is all you have to do after you save the file.

P.S. It is a 30 day free trile and only costs $29.95 if you decide to buy it.

Let me know what you think if you try it.

yea andrew, that is why I gave up melinium and finally went to xp. Couldn't find a thing I liked that was supported by mel.

Talked to Adobe the other day. They informed me that all their new software is going to be going on 64 bit processing soon. My old 32 will surely be a dionousar soon.

I got pro. Seems lighter and faster on other puters i used with both on them. Have herd that when you download the updates they both become the same thing. Not sure about that. Just herd it.

XP Home has many of the networking components disabled. If you know which files to get and a couple of hacks, you're suposed to be able to enable all of it, but I haven't tried. I just Pro. That gives me all of the networking capabilities I could want (I run a network in the house so I can store my images in more than one place.)

I use home and I network three to four computers with no problem whatsoever using Window's XP Home edition.

You can still use your Windows 98SE if you want. One way is through dual boot using something like PartitionMagic which comes with all that's needed to run multiple operating systems. I just picked up the lastest version for free after rebates (from Frys). The other way is to use something like VMWare for which see:
http://www.vmware.com/products/desktop/ws_specs.html

which lets you open up any operating system supported in its own window (and with full network support if needed). I have used this for many years and it works very well.

Cheers,
Roger

If all you are doing is simple shares and want to create matching user accounts and passwords on each computer, Home works fine. I run a small domain so I only have to create accounts and so on once, but Home won't work on a domain, so you have to use Pro.
